Nicola co-founded Pohlen Partners following completion of a commerce degree and her earlier career in commercial roles in NZ, Australia and UK. With a goal of ‘doing things differently’ this has led to a business with strong strategic partnerships that have developed since the company first began in 1995.
Leading the company, she also manages senior recruitment assignments and strategic talent projects; activities which allow her to pursue her interest in contributing to the success of NZ business.
She ensures her knowledge is global and current through active participation in industry associations including long term membership of the NZ institute of Directors and international alliance partner Arbora.
Offering significant recruitment and consulting experience across diverse industries and positions, Robyn currently specialises in recruiting Human Resources professionals, building collaborative, long-term partnerships with those who lead and contribute to the people and talent initiatives of New Zealand businesses.
Robyn also manages Pohlen Partners’ Career Services and Outsourced HR Consulting portfolios, delivering relevant consultancy assistance through tailored solutions, in response to unique project requirements.

Beatrice brings 20 years’ recruitment experience from South Africa, where she managed her own recruitment consultancy servicing mining, civil engineering, construction, hospitality and the health care industries within the broad operations portfolio, incorporating industrial, hospitality, health and related sectors.
Recognising the value of specific candidate offerings enables Beatrice to proactively showcase talent to support the goals of New Zealand organisations. Keen to immerse herself in the relevant industries, Beatrice elevated her own knowledge through relevant qualifications including completion of the NEBOSH Safety qualification and City and Guilds Hospitality qualification.
Adding a further dimension to sourcing specialist skills, Beatrice is connected to a strong pool of potential talent in South Africa. Where appropriate, she is able to evaluate and advise on the alignment of their experience to the New Zealand market.
Maddie’s career, following completion of a Psychology degree and Masters, has led to recruitment via retail operations and account management. This has offered her wide commercial experience and appreciation of diverse business landscapes and the cultural spaces within them.
Contributing to companies in leadership positions, she understands different working styles, individual motivators and career development paths, as well as the value of collaborative partnerships and teamwork in creating positive outcomes.
